Obscure Games keeps Pittsburgh playing

Adam Nelson is busy. Even back when most of us complained about snow in January, the dedicated creator of Obscure Games was hosting Barrage! (think capture the flag meets classic snowball battle).  So it's no wonder that here we are, only halfway through 2011, and the group has had people smiling weekly by living their simple motto 'Play is Good'.

Already they've hosted regular Game Labs at Hambone's and Fleeting Pages, directed play at Attack Theatre's 'The Dirty Ball' and the Mattress Factory's 'Community Garden Party', as well as games at community events like Art All Night and the Geek Art /Green Innovators Festival (GAGI).  When is the last time you had a squirt gun fight?  Obscure Games did in June with CounterSquirt.

Sound like fun?  You'll have plenty of chances to join them through play this Summer and beyond, by following @obscuregames on Twitter, checking Upcoming Games and Events on their website, or Liking them on Facebook to stay ontop of all the details.  And, don't forget to mark your calendars for the Steel City Games Fest II coming up in August.   Summer is here, get out and get your play on!

Obscure Games is a fiscally sponsored project of New Sun Rising.  They bring a collaborative out-of-the-box process to creating and playing games that have never been seen before.  The group recognizes that play deeply enriches lives at any age and seeks to challenge participants in new ways that require creativity, teamwork, and innovative thinking.  Obscure Games can bring some obscurity to any upcoming group or company event, both indoor and outdoor, large or small.  Learn more about having them at your next gathering here.
