SUMMARY:Cooperatives Meetup and Networking
DESCRIPTION:Most people want a better way to work\, and they like the cooperative business model\, but they aren’t confident enough yet about co-ops to take the plunge. Many people start cooperative businesses as a sideline\, so it’s not a big risk. \nMany people may have the same ideas of cooperatives they want to start\, but need additional people to build their businesses and co-ops. \nSo\, let’s have some face-to-face events\, some with facilitated discussions and/or presentations so potential co-op members can be informed about new accomplishments and trends in the co-op space\, and meet each other and people making waves in the pool. \nThe “pieces of the puzzle” are here; we just need to connect people and resources who represent them. \nMost importantly\, let’s build a pipeline of co-op businesses to form and cultivate a network of knowledgeable\, helpful cooperators. You are not alone! Join us July 30!

SUMMARY:Radical Mental Health Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:The Radical Mental Health Reading Group is a recurring informal discussion on different texts in radical mental health / Mad Pride / CSX. This series will be more academically-based than our current Mental Health Cafe series (mutual aid focused). This is a great event if you’d like to learn more about radical mental health and/or discuss your thoughts with other members of the community! \nWe will be continuing our discussion of “Mindful Occupation: Rising Up Without Burning Out” – available for free online (linked below)\, or purchase the zine from Microcosm Publishing. http://mindfuloccupation.org/files/booklet/mindful_occupation_singles_latest.pdf. We will be concentrating on the chapter on “What is Radical Mental Health?” – but anyone is welcome to propose topics or join in if they haven’t read it. \nIneffable is wheelchair accessible through the main entrance (through the lot and then a side door). On-street parking is free at night. Nearby bus stops include the 54\, 86\, 87\, 88\, 91. \nIf you cannot find the group or are nervous/anxious upon arriving\, please private message our Facebook page or text the Inside Our Minds phone line: (412) 438-3278.

SUMMARY:Mental Health Cafe - October Edition
DESCRIPTION:For October’s Mental Health Cafe\, join the Inside Our Minds Team for conversation and peer support at Biddle’s Escape. Plus\, Halloween! (We’ll bring some spooky candy). \nMental Health Cafe is a monthly community conversation on mental health\, mental illness\, and madness over coffee and treats. The event will focus on informal discussions and friendly peer support / mutual aid in a welcoming space for all. People are invited to participate actively or passively\, or just listen. \nImportant Notes: Mental Health Cafe is a space for peers and allies to have open conversations that represent a wide variety of opinions and beliefs\, some of which everyone may not agree with. As a community\, we expect everyone to hold respectful conversations. Anyone who personally attacks\, harasses\, or discriminates against another community member will be asked to leave and will be potentially banned from future events. \nMental Health Cafe is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. We are also NOT a support group. We can only provide friendly peer support and conversation. 🙂 \nArrival Info \nBiddle’s Escape is located in the Regent Square / Wilkinsburg area near Frick Park. The downstairs and porch area are wheelchair accessible. There is street parking in the area\, or nearby bus stops include the 61A (4 min away)\, 61B (5 min)\, 71C (8 min)\, P1 (10 min). \nIf you cannot find the group or are nervous/anxious upon arriving\, please private message our Facebook page or text the Inside Our Minds phone line: (412) 438-3278. \nThe Inside Our Minds staff will have earplugs on hand for anyone who would like them. We also utilize a colored name tag system to display social interaction preferences (originally from the Autistic community).
