Imagine Careers has built a Professional Discovery Platform (PDP) which is currently filled with deep, transparent data about over 1,300 Pittsburgh regional companies. We have given these companies a single place to share their employment brand, condensing all of their social media links, jobs, benefits information, and much more. Using a very Zillow-esq interface, our users can confidentially learn more about companies and discover how well they fit before making career decisions. The goal of the first version of our product is creating a better fit and longer retention for professionals and companies.
We have learned that there is an incredible opportunity before us to solve similar challenges for the non-profit community in Pittsburgh as well. Through conversations with countless non-profit leaders in the region, we’ve learned about several very consistent problems shared by most:
>> Attracting and retaining great talent given some of their constraints, including typically lower salaries than for-profits. In addition, most nonprofits do not have the budget to do mass recruiting efforts and pay third party agency finder fees.
>> Growing awareness of the nonprofit, its mission, and attracting in the right people to take advantage of the services they offer. In many cases, there are tremendous programs right under the noses of the communities they serve, but people are not familiar/struggle to find them.
>> Monitoring the success and the long-term impact that the programs have on the participants. This type of data would be extremely beneficial to future growth and sustainability of successful programs, while also help programs that are lagging to understand why and find ways to adapt.
Enter Imagine Careers and the Connect Pittsburgh Project. In this pilot phase, we will be working with the Pittsburgh Promise, PA Women Work, and The Door Campaign to build the technology to help solve their problems. Once the pilot phase is completed, we will be working to roll this out to the entire Pittsburgh non-profit community.
