RUFF = RELATIONSHIPS USING FACTS and FANTASY
Are you looking for a way to connect with children through positive life stories? RUFF Writers is a legacy project to connect the generations through children’s picture books as anchors for conversations, while creating crafts and hand-writing keepsake “RUFF” drafts.
Many children have an older family member with cognitive difficulties. Listening to a child or teen read aloud may help prompt memories that lead to treasured family moments. Additional programs and support can be provided by Dementia Friends Pennsylvania, even if you live outside the state.

Contact us by email to receive free monthly material packets to use in your community. We appreciate it when you share this RUFF Writers – New Sun Rising project page with teachers, librarians and friends. When you make a donation–in any amount—we will honor or memorialize the name of a loved one in a future video of “Lemons into Lemonade.” (Please email the name to honor to: email@example.com.)
When growing up on a farm in Ohio, we learned that one person can make a difference, and small efforts add up, like the blocks on a handmade quilt that warm our insides as much as our outsides. Now, as a grandmother, I hope to pass on stories and memories–as well as make more memories–that can uplift children throughout their lives.

P.S. Down the path, “RE-VISIONS,” a traveling exhibit of books by Western Pennsylvania authors and illustrators, will be available to community libraries and a “book kit” will be available for purchase.
