Are you looking for a way to connect with children through positive life stories? The RUFF Writers Project is about connecting people of all ages with children’s picture books as an anchor for conversations, then taking the next step and recording hand-written “RUFF” drafts to create books, bulletin boards and other treasured keepsakes. Share this project during 15 minute transition time in schools, libraries, after school activities and in your home. RUFF means RESILIENCY USING FACTS and FANTASY.
Even rough times hold nourishing memories when savoring life stories or uplifting ones we imagine. The RUFF Writers Project will include seasonal activities for conversation/writing themes that include children’s picture book suggestions, recipe/craft projects, and writing templates intended for K-8, with ideas on how to adapt for younger children and to be part of teen volunteer service projects.
If you would like to know more, please reach us at ruffwriterbooks@gmail.com. Join our email list for seasonal activity pages and/or links to monthly sessions to share songs, stories, crafts/recipes, and ideas to preserve important stories across the generations.
When growing up on a farm in Ohio, we learned that one person can make a difference, and small efforts add up, like the blocks on a handmade quilt that warms our insides as much as our outsides. Now I’m a grandmother of five and hope to pass on stories and memories that can uplift our children throughout their lives. Thank you for your help. Jane Miller, Founder
A request for help: We hope to raise $2,000 through 200 donations of $10 to:
1) Launch The RUFF Writers web site that will include free writing themed resources
2) Spread the message with a video of the song, Lemons Into Lemonade and
3)Provide art/writing kit materials for 50 families
As a thank you for donating, for the first 100 people, we will include the name of a person you would like to memorialize in the song video.
