A neighbor-led micro-grant program to foster belonging and strengthen the building blocks of democratic infrastructure through the simple act of sharing a meal.
Most of us don’t spend enough time with people who see the world differently than we do, and the times we do tend to be the ones that change us. Our richness comes from new experiences, not simply from familiar ones.
250 Tables invites residents across Southwestern Pennsylvania to host small bridge-building dinners. The goal: bringing people together who don’t know each other or who have different backgrounds to share in conversation over a meal. As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of American independence and shared values like “out of many, one” and “we the people” – we also face rising issues of social fragmentation.
The 250 Tables initiative helps neighbors see themselves and each other as part of a broader connected community — socially, culturally, and economically. And it is built to surface the civic energy and solutions the region can carry as it moves into the next 250 years.
